I have my clients on a dedicated server and it was brought to its knees by bots. Amazon and AI bots.
Solution was to create a robots.txt file with this inside:
User-agent: GPTBot
Disallow: /
User-agent: Amazonbot
Disallow: /
HTH someone else.
